Ein Leitfaden für den Besuch

Mazzè liegt in der Provinz von Turin, an der östlichen Grenze des Canavese, einer historischen Region des Piemont, entlang dem Lauf der Dora Baltea, am Ausläufer des canavesischen Moränengürtels. Dieser Standort hat es seit eh und je als Durchzugsort Richtung Mailand prädestiniert. Als Beweis für die Verbundenheit und die Vorliebe der Grafen Valperga, die 800 Jahre lang die Herren von Mazzè waren, für diese Stadt, können die Schutzheiligen St. Gervasio und St. Protasio gelten, mailändische Märtyrer, welche gemeinsam mit dem Hl. Ambrosius in der gleichnamigen Kirche begraben sind.Mazzè trägt mehr oder weniger deutliche Züge der Volksstämme, die hier von der Eisenzeit bis in unsere Tage aufeinanderfolgten; es genügt, sich ein wenig umzusehen, und schon sieht man vor seinen Augen die Erlebnisse eines Landes ablaufen, das stets eine Daseinsberichtigung in der Beherrschung der Furten über die Dora gefunden hat.
Landschaftlich bieten sich köstliche Schauspiele, ein Spaziergang entlang der Schlucht, in der die Dora fließt, oder zum Hügel der Felsenburg sind unvergeßliche Erlebnisse.
In den Gaststätten kann man den vorzüglichen Erbaluce degustieren oder den wohlbekannten Passito von Caluso, gebratenes Allerlei verkosten, Hühnerbeuschel, Kohlsuppe, Karpfen in Sauersoße, Speckbohnen, noch in der Terrakottapfanne zubereitet, und Apfelpalatschinken, eine wahre Spezialität von Mazzè.
Den Petrijüngern ist es möglich, diesen Sport an der Dora Baltea auszuüben, die reich an Forellen und anderen Wildwasserischen ist, während den Reitern und Radfahrern geführte Ausflüge angeboten werden.

Mazzè, als Heimatsstadt des Grafen Eugenio Brunetta D’Usseaux, des ersten und bis jetzt einzigen italienischen Sekretäts des Internationalen Olympischen Komittes.

Leider gibt es z.Zt. örtlich keine Beherbergungsstätten für einen mehrtägigen Aufenhalt. Es sind aber öffentliche sowie private Aktionen im Laufe, zur Herstellung von wenigstens 2 Bed & Breakfast, davon 1 in der schönen Landschaft von Barengo und ein weiteres im alten Stadtkern des Hauptortes.
Mazzè ist von Turin 35 km, von Mailand 100 km, von Ivrea 20 km entfernt und leicht erreichtbar von den Autobahnen Mailand–Turin und Turin–Aosta. Die Eisenbahnstation befindet sich in Caluso auf der Strecke Turin–Aosta, von welcher aus man das historische Zentrum ca. 2 km entfernt, mit einer Spazierfahrt auf einem fahrradtauglichen Weg neben der Hauptstraße erreichen kann oder auch, für Naturfreunde, auf der antiken Straße der Tre Dossi, mühevollver, aber durch Weingärten und Kastanienhaine führend.

Mazzè se trouve dans la province de Turin à l’extrême frontière est du Canavese, région historique du Piémont, le long du cours de la Doire Baltée, sur les pentes sud de l’amphithéâtre morainique du Canavese, position qui a fait de ce site un lieu privilégié de passage vers Milan et la Lombardie. En témoignage des liens et des sympathies des Comtes Valperga, seigneurs de Mazzè pendant huit cents ans, les saints patrons locaux sont les martyrs milanais Gervasio et Protasio, enterrés avec Sant’Ambrogio dans l’église milanaise du même nom.
Mazzè conserve des traces plus ou moins évidentes des populations qui s’y sont succédé depuis l’âge du fer jusqu’à nos jours ; il suffit de chercher et vous verrez défiler sous vos yeux l’histoire d’un village qui a toujours contrôlé les gués sur la Doire, bâtissant ainsi sa prospérité et son influence.

Sur le plan paysager, de magnifiques spectacles s’étendent sous vos yeux ; une promenade le long du ravin où coule la Doire ou au tertre de la Bicocca seront des expériences inoubliables.
Dans les " trattorias ", vous pourrez déguster l’excellent Erbaluce et le célèbre Passito, savourer le fritto misto, la finanziera, la soupe aux choux, la carpe marinée, les haricots que l’on fait encore cuire dans une marmite en terre ; et pour le dessert vous vous délecterez des beignets de pommes et des canestrelli, les véritables spécialités de Mazzè et de Tonengo.

Les férus de pêche pourront exercer leur talent dans la Doire Baltée, riche en truites et en autres poissons des montagnes, alors que les cavaliers et les cyclistes bénéficieront de promenades guidées, extrêmement intéressantes du point de vue nature et culture.Mazzè, patrie du Comte Eugenio Brunetta d’Usseaux, premier et seul Italien secrétaire du Comité Olympique International.

La Commune ne dispose malheureusement pas de structures d’accueil permettant un séjour prolongé ; toutefois, des initiatives sont en cours, publiques et privées, pour la création d’au moins deux bed and breakfast, le premier à Barengo vers le Lac de Candia et l’autre dans le centre historique du chef-lieu.
Mazzè est situé à 35 km de Turin, à 100 km de Milan, à 20 km d’Ivrée et se rejoint aisément grâce aux autoroutes Milan-Turin et Turin-Aoste. La gare de chemin de fer se trouve à Caluso sur la ligne Turin Aoste, à partir de laquelle on peut rejoindre le centre historique, situé à environ deux kilomètres, par la piste cyclable qui longe la route, ou bien, pour les amoureux de la nature, par la vieille Strada Francigena des trois mamelons, plus fatigante certes, mais qui serpente au milieu des vignes et des châtaigneraies.

Mazzè is located in the province of Turin, at the far east of the Canavese area, an historical region of Piemonte along the river Dora Baltea, south of the natural morainic amphitheatre, and owing to its geographical position it was the best route from the North-West to Milan and Lombardia. The local patrons, Milanese martyrs Gervasio and Protasio, who were buried with St. Ambrogio in the Milanese church of the same name, are proof of the tight friendship that linked the Counts of Valperga (rulers of Mazzè for eight centuries) with this town.
Mazzè has preserved much of its past from the iron age to today; you just need to look around to imagine the history of a village keeping the ford on the river under control and achieving prosperity and influence thanks to its position.
The countryside offers priceless views, a walk in the gorge descending to the river or up to the Bicocca tumulus will be an unforgettable experience
In the inns you can taste the local wines, Erbaluce and the famous Passito, eat fritto misto, try finanziera, cabbage soup and carp soused in vinegar, or rich beans stewed in an old earthenware pot, and choose sweet fried apples for dessert, or try canestrelli, a rare speciality of Mazzè and Tonengo
Fishermen can enjoy the trout and other fresh-water fish that the Dora offers, whilst horse-riders and cyclists can ride along routes of great nature and cultural interest.
One of the co-founders of the modern Olimpic games, Count Eugenio Brunetta d’Usseaux, was borned in Mazzè and to this day has been the only Italian secretary of the International Olympic Committee.

To this fascinating citizen CONI has dedicated a publication evidencing his role in the modern Olympic games.
Unfortunately, there are no local hotels for short stay visits, but a couple of bed and breakfast are scheduled, the first in the picturesque countryside of Barengo on Lake Candia and the second in the old part of Mazzè, by the castle.
Mazzè is 35 km from Turin, 100 km from Milan, 20 km from Ivrea and can easily be reached by the Milano-Torino or Torino-Aosta motorways. The nearest railway station is Caluso, 3 km away, on the Torino-Aosta line, and from here you can reach the historic centre on a cycle track next to the main road, or walk along the ancient Via Francigena - the 3 humps road, a bit more tiring, but going through vineyards and chestnut woods.

Mazzè è posto in provincia di Torino all’estremo confine est del Canavese, regione storica del Piemonte, lungo il corso della Dora Baltea, sulle falde meridionali dell’anfiteatro morenico canavesano, posizione che ha sempre indicato il sito come luogo privilegiato di transito verso Milano e la Lombardia. A testimonianza dei collegamenti e delle simpatie dei Conti Valperga, signori di Mazzè per ottocento anni, i patroni locali sono i martiri milanesi Gervasio e Protasio, sepolti con Sant’Ambrogio nell’omonima chiesa.
Mazzè ha tracce più o meno evidenti dei popoli che qui si sono succeduti dall’età del ferro sino ai giorni nostri, basta cercare e vedrete scorrere davanti ai vostri occhi le vicende di un paese che ha sempre avuto il controllo dei guadi sulla Dora, ricavandone prosperità ed influenza.

Paesaggisticamente si offrono spettacoli impagabili, una passeggiata lungo la forra nella quale scorre la Dora od al tumulo della Bicocca saranno esperienze indimenticabili.
Nelle trattorie potrete degustare l’ottimo Erbaluce ed il notissimo Passito, assaggiare il fritto misto, la finanziera, la zuppa di cavoli, la carpa in carpione, i fagioli grassi ancora cotti nella pignatta di terracotta e per dessert assaporare le frittele di mele ed i canestrelli vere specialità mazzediesi e tonenghesi.

Per gli amanti della pesca è possibile esercitare questo sport sulla Dora Baltea, ricca di trote e d’altri pesci montani, mentre per i cavalieri ed i ciclisti sono state create passeggiate guidate di notevole interesse naturalistico e culturale.
Mazzè è stata la patria del conte Eugenio Brunetta d’Usseaux, primo e sino ad ora unico italiano segretario del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale.

Ruolo già riconosciutogli dal CONI nella pubblicazione edita recentemente a ricordo di uno dei cofondatori delle Olimpiadi moderne.
Nel Comune purtroppo non esistono strutture ricettive atte ad un soggiorno prolungato, sono però in atto iniziative, sia pubbliche sia private, per la creazione di almeno due bed and breakfast, il primo a Barengo verso il Lago di Candia e l’altro nel centro storico del capoluogo.
Mazzè dista da Torino 35 chilometri, da Milano 100, da Ivrea 20 ed è facilmente raggiungibile sia con l’autostrada Milano Torino sia con la Torino Aosta. La stazione ferroviaria è posta a Caluso sulla linea Torino Aosta dalla quale si può raggiungere il centro storico, distante circa due chilometri con una passeggiata sulla pista ciclabile che costeggia la statale, oppure, per gli amanti della natura con l’antica Strada dei tre dossi, più faticosa ma transitante in mezzo a vigne e castagneti.
